First Post: Plans for Senegal

On May 23, 2013, I will be joining a non-profit organization called OPEN International on a trip to Senegal, Africa. During this trip, I will be working at Adja Penda Ba school. Here, we will participate in various of activities in order to create a better learning environment for their students and will have an opportunity to work with the students firsthand. We are currently planning activities and lesson plans for students K-12, which cover three areas of knowledge: English, computer skills, and art. The present task at hand is to learn how to use XO laptops that have been donated to the school. A group of us working with OPEN International will be meeting at the Arlington Career Center not only to learn how to use these XO laptops, but to gain the ability to teach others to use them. The goal is to accomplish this as fast as possible and efficiently so the students can take advantage of the laptops as much as possible. I will be recording my experience with the XO laptops through blogging, and look forward to my trip in May.be able
